OMG — I really should have re-read your JAPAN blog before
going..we came here too..at 8:20 am …

but, we waited for 3 hours and 5 min 🙁 You only waited for 1
hour?!!

Of my 48 hour trip, a total of 4.x hours were allocated to "SUSHI
BIG"…….!!! 50 min travel, 3 hour wait, 30 min eat!!!!!! We went
to fish market both fri + sat!

We tried the "Omakasen" deal ……and I ate some too!! 😀

Why you should have re-read my blog before going? Did you
    miss something??

    3 HOURS??? THAT'S CRAZY!
We arrived at Tsukiji around 10:30am; maybe that
explained why we “only” waited for a bit more than an hour?

Wait…50 min travel to Tsukiji? Where do you live?

Have you tried something else on the 2nd day? They should
have other places that you don't have to wait. I wanna try
    chirashi next time.

    That's right! If i re-read the blog, I definitely wouldn't wait for
3 hours. We asked the ppl who work there if we went there at 5
am…if we had to wait. He said, to be the first customer, you need
to start lining up at 3:30 am, he told us!

My coworker today told me that he only waited an hour as well!

So, I wasted 2 hours! When we left — there were still a 3 hour
wait! And if i knew some sashimi were not fresh when you visited..i
would convince P to try another sashimi place 😛 But, I think ours
were ok!

We stayed at Miyako Sheraton..near Merugo..quite far. First
day..took 50 min (need to switch 3 subway lines + walk to
station)….2nd day, we took another route..but, for sure..return
trip travel time > 1.5 hour!!

What is Chirashi? We had sashimi rice the first day..around 15min
for that one..!

Did I say some sashimi were not fresh?? I think all of them
are very flesh; but just two were very “腥”, which is the
    nature of those particular types.

Yes, for next time, I wouldn't wait. I guess it was ok to
wait for the “experience” once; but sashimi at Tsukiji are
generally pretty flesh, so, I would choose another one
    without the long line.

We stayed at Miyako Sheraton last time too. Do you know that
they offer free shuttle service to JR station at Meguro and
Metro station at Shirokanedai? I remember it only took us 20
min or so with 1 subway transfer to Tsukiji. Umm…but I can
see how it'll take you a long time if you walk to the station,
esp. to Meguro, that alone takes more than 20 mins.

“Chirashi” is various sashimi over a bowl of rice.
